DETC is proud to announce that we’ll be exhibiting and presenting at LCV 2017, the premier UK low carbon vehicle event, at Millbrook, Bedfordshire, on 6 and 7 September.

The annual low carbon automotive industry show, organised by Cenex, is expected to attract more than 3,000 visitors for its opportunities for networking, learn from seminars by industry leaders and observe the latest developments and opportunities in low carbon vehicle and UK government policy.

There’ll be three halls of exhibitions, exhibits outdoors on tarmac, and opportunities to drive or ride some new and exotic low carbon vehicles round Millbrook’s complex of test tracks and a high speed circuit.

VR pushing the boundaries of design

DETC’s presence will be in Hall 1, alongside the stands of Innovate UK, as well as APC and its other spokes.

We plan to show off examples of how Virtual Reality (VR) technologies can be used to push the boundaries of vehicle design, in conjunction with our affiliates Gravity Sketch, Hartree Centre and the Virtual Engineering Centre.

The exhibits will demonstrate how VR can be used in real-world engineering applications such as high fidelity engineering based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis and design in fully immersive environments.

DETC Seminars

DETC will also be contributing to the seminar programmes of both days, and will lead a live interactive VR demonstration in the Seminar Dome on day one.

In the Main Plenary Hall on 6 September 2017 Jon Horsley (DETC Programme Director) will present a talk on ‘Joining the Digital Revolution to Transform Automotive Engineering’ at the 11:00-12:15 The Automotive Council and UK Capabilities Development seminar.

On day two, 7 September 2017, at the Seminar Dome, Dr Kevin Rampersad will present as part of the Advanced Manufacturing seminar – Seminar Dome – 09:15-10:45 on ‘Vehicle Design and Analysis Using Collaborative VR’.

LCV 2016 a high profile platform for DETC to announce funding opportunities

Last year, LCV2016 had a record 3,137 visitors, 226 exhibitors and 1180 organisations represented.

As part of the Britain is GREAT pavilion DETC showcased applications of augmented reality in the automotive industry and announced the second DETC Collaborative R&D funding programme.
